Ondo mother killed three years after daughter’s rape, murder

Suspected hoodlums on Tuesday killed a woman, Yemisi Ajayi, at her house in the Abusoro area of Ijoka, Akure, Ondo State.

This is happening three years after her only child, Oluwaseun Ajila, was raped and murdered at their residence in 2018.

UGAMATV  had reported that the 20-year-old, who was a fashion model, was stabbed to death by unknown assailants.

Our correspondent had reported that her mother raised the alarm upon returning from work and seeing her corpse.

Ajila’s boyfriend, Ebenezer Adedimola, was arrested in connection with the incident and was later charged to court.

The suspect was, however, released after legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions said he had no case to answer.

Three years later, Mrs Ajayi was also stabbed in the stomach.

A source told our correspondent that a young girl living with her discovered her lifeless body when she went to call her for morning devotion.

The source said, “She was stabbed in the stomach; she was alone in her room, while the girl slept in another room. In the early hours of the day, the girl went to call her for morning devotion and saw her lifeless body and called neighbours for help.”

Our correspondent learnt that the community chairman reported the incident at the B Division Police Station, Oke Aro.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, said an investigation was ongoing into the matter.

She said, “The corpse has already been deposited in a mortuary and the police are investigating to unravel the motive behind her killing. We don’t want to reveal what we are doing in order not to jeopardise the investigation.”
