Olu of Warri counsels Delta PDP on picking gov candidate

The Olu of Warri Kingdom, His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, has cautioned the Delta Central Senatorial District (DC-23) lobby group within the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in the State to guard against sentiments and corruption in their ongoing bid to select a credible governorship candidate ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Giving the advice while playing host to members of the lobby group led by its national chairman, Ighoyota Amori, at the royal palace in Warri, the monarch expressed delight at the group’s show of unity and prayed that when the time comes, they will match that show of unity with commitment.

The visiting team comprised, among others, DC-23 leaders and members, including the Deputy National Chairman Olorogun Solomon Ighrakpata; National Secretary, Dr. Chris Oharisi; Assistant National Organising Secretary, Christian Onogba; and Assistant National Publicity Secretary, Sunday Apah.

Ogiame Atuwatse III told the visitors that his sincere prayer was for God to guide the group in the process of selecting the candidate for the 2023 governorship election.

“I pray for all of you that will participate in that process to ensure that it produces the best, because Delta State deserves the best.

“I am highly impressed with your show of unity today and I pray that when the time comes, you will match that show of unity with more commitments, if not surpass it.

“On our part as a nation, we will also meet and come up with our collective decision and resolution to complement and contribute to the development of Delta State,” the monarch averred.

The group’s leader, Amori, had explained the objectives of the DC-23 lobby group, noting that its nature and role was not different from that of the G-3 of the Delta South Senatorial District that was formed to drive the process of electing the immediate past governor of the state, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan.
