The Deputy Minority leader, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon Toby Okechukwu, has expressed his utmost displeasure at the killing of One Mr. Eugene Ilobani, by some killer herdsmen. 

He made this known to the public, during a plenary session yesterday. 

UGAMATV had earlier reported, that Mr. Ilobani, whom hailed from Isiokwevillage in Amankpunatoautonomous community, Oji river local government area of Enugu state, was hacked to death by some killer Fulani herdsmen, on the 29^thof June, 2020,in his farm.

Also, he was reportedly not the first victim of the serial gruesome killings, attacks and rape, that has been going on by suspected killer herdsmen in Oji river axisand other parts of the federation. 

Speaking during the plenary session, Hon. Okechukwu, explained that given the level of insecurity in Nigeria, our Farmers have fled their farms in search of security, a situation that has exposed Nigeria to Hunger, food shortage and lack of fresh Crops. 

Recently, he noted, “Thisdaynews” reported that between 2017 and May, 2020, Herdsmen have launched 654 attacks, killed about 2339 Persons, kidnapped 253 persons around the federation. 

Bringing these Criminals to book will serve as a deterrent for any criminal or prospective Criminal element. 

He also, said that the house acknowledges the several investment made by state governments towards State security, also theoverwhelming challenges they encounter. The house is also aware of the Security situation in Awgu, Aninri, Oji river Federal Constituency, which has resulted to protests since 29^th may 2020.

In possible solution, he said that the house calls on the Federal Government, particularly the Inspector General of the police, to get rid of all armed criminals in Amankpunato Community in Oji river LGA of Enugu state and its environs.

Secondly, the house beckons on the federal government to deploy sufficient Security Agents to Amankpunato in Oji river. This is to ensure clemency and safety in the environment, suitable for indigenes to carry out their trades and farm work. 

However, the house calls for investigation, apprehension and prosecution of the perpetrators of this heinous crime.
