NUC Grants Full Accreditation to 18 Programmes at EKSU

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted full accreditation to 18 academic programmes at Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado-Ekiti—a milestone the institution hails as a significant stride in its academic growth and excellence.

In a letter dated April 30, 2025, and signed by the Acting Director of Accreditation, Abraham Chundusu, on behalf of the NUC Executive Secretary, the Commission confirmed the successful outcome of the accreditation exercise conducted in October and November 2024.

The newly accredited programmes span a wide range of disciplines, including Administration, M.Sc. Business Administration, Master of Personnel Management, M.Sc. Finance, Master of Public Administration, and Master of Business Administration. Others include Arabic Studies, Islamic Studies, Philosophy, Arts, and Law.

Also accredited are programmes in education and engineering, such as Building and Woodwork Technology Education, Electrical and Electronic Technology Education, Metal and Auto Mechanic Technology Education, Education Christian Religious Studies, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Geology, and Psychology.

Reacting to the announcement, EKSU Vice Chancellor, Professor Babatola Ayodele, described the development as “a dream come true and a product of tireless efforts by both academic and administrative staff.” He added that the accreditation affirms EKSU’s commitment to delivering quality education in relevant and innovative fields to Nigerian youth.

The Vice Chancellor expressed gratitude to the Governor of Ekiti State and Visitor to the university, Biodun Oyebanji; the Chancellor, Dr. Tunji Olowolafe; and the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Akin Oyebode, for their unwavering support and contributions to the university’s global advancement.

In a statement released Monday, the Head of EKSU’s Directorate of Information, Bode Olofinmuagun, noted that this development further cements EKSU’s growing reputation. “It reaffirms the university’s status as the best state university in Nigeria, according to the 2025 Times Higher Education rankings,” he stated.
