The operation was carried out by the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad, as disclosed in a statement posted on the Corps’ official X (formerly Twitter) handle.
According to the NSCDC, the raid took place in a remote area of the state as part of ongoing efforts to combat crude oil theft and curb environmental degradation caused by illegal refining activities.
“In a renewed onslaught against oil theft, the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad has successfully uncovered and dismantled an illegal artisanal oil refining camp hidden deep in the creeks of Umuohala Community, Ukwa West LGA, Abia State,” the statement read.
