The leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has advised Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intensify efforts to gain stronger support from Northern Nigeria ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, the cleric said the North has not fully embraced Tinubu’s second-term ambition, adding that the individuals currently managing political engagements in the region may not be effectively securing the needed support.
Ayodele warned that some people may be giving the president misleading information about the situation in the North and urged him to pay attention to the realities on the ground, which he believes show that many in the region are yet to back his re-election bid.
According to him, Tinubu needs to work closely with influential leaders across the northern region to build stronger acceptance. He cautioned that failure to do so could lead to tensions and political challenges as the 2027 Nigerian general elections approach.
The cleric also noted that the president must personally take charge of efforts to win support in the region, stressing that it may not be enough to rely on political movements or allies alone.
He further stated that building relationships with traditional rulers, political figures, and religious leaders in the North would be important if Tinubu hopes to strengthen his chances ahead of the election.
