The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has taken swift disciplinary action following a viral video showing a pump attendant allegedly attempting to defraud a customer at its Retail outlet in Ikorodu, Lagos.
In a statement released on Friday, the state-owned oil firm confirmed that a detailed investigation traced the incident to one of its stations in Ikorodu. The company described the attendant’s behaviour as “unacceptable” and inconsistent with its core values of integrity, transparency, and exceptional customer service.
“In response to this incident, NNPC Retail Limited has taken the following decisive actions in line with its sanction grid: the pump attendant involved has been disengaged; the Station Manager has been suspended; and a formal warning letter has been issued to the Dealer,” the statement read in part.
NNPCL commended the public for their vigilance in reporting the matter and encouraged more customers to speak out when faced with unprofessional conduct. It reminded Nigerians that customer service numbers and email addresses are displayed at all its stations for quick reporting and prompt action.
The company assured the public of its continued strict enforcement of operational standards across its nationwide retail network, adding that it remains committed to ensuring all customers receive fair value for their money without compromise.
