Nnamdi Kanu: Biafra group issues directive

The Biafra Nations League (BNL) has directed its members to “observe” the trial of Nnamdi Kanu before taking any action.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader is in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Kanu was remanded by Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court after his re-arraignment on Tuesday, four years after he jumped bail.

The BNL, in a statement by the Leader, Chimezie Richard, advised its members to remain calm.

“We have told our colleagues in Bakassi, other areas in South-South, South East, and border allies in Southern Cameroon to should stay calm while we observe the situation for now,” he said.

Richard said the organization will wait for the outcome of July 26 hearing before further reactions.

The secessionist group noted that the arrest of any Biafra agitator is an issue that concerns “everyone in the movement”.

“BNL asks the Federal Government to handle Kanu’s trial with caution to avoid violent reactions in the South East and South-South by Biafran supporters.

“Youths who believes that Biafra should exist as a separate state are ready to rebel against Nigeria. The arrest, detention and killings cannot end the movement”, he
