NIGERIA’S AIRSPACE TO BE SHUT TO INTERNATIONAL AIRLINES,SAYS NAMA

The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency on Tuesday said the country’s airspace was not shut to international airlines.

It said the clarification was necessary as a result of insinuations in certain quarters that Nigerian Airports had been shut to international flights until the middle of October, 2020.

“Indeed, such speculations are entirely untrue,” the General Manager, Public Affairs, NAMA, Khalid Emele, said in a statement entitled, “Nigerian airports not shut to foreign airlines.”

The agency stated that following the receipt of an All Operators Letter with reference NCAA/DG/AIR/11/16/152 from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NAMA issued an Aeronautical Information Circular.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, has said that no date has been fixed for the resumption of foreign airlines into the country.

This was against reports that October had been fixed for international flights resumption.

Sirika responded to the report in a tweet on Tuesday, saying a date had not been fixed.

He further added that international flights could resume earlier than October.
