Nigerian nursing assistant arrested for alleged sexual abuse of home care patients in US

Authorities have arrested a 61-year-old Nigerian man, Kayode Agbolade Ogunba, who they believe s3xually abused patients while working at a nursing home in Santa Barbara County, Los Angeles, United States.

 

 

 

The investigation into Ogunba, a certified nursing assistant, began early in November, 2025 when the facility in Goleta reported that he s3xually assaulted two patients while working there, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

 

 

 

Ogunba was involved in similar allegations in the Los Angeles area, and he is believed to have previously worked in other states, including Washington and Texas, according to authorities.

 

 

 

Following an investigation, on January 20, 2026, Ogunba was arrested in Los Angeles on a Santa Barbara County on multiple felony charges, including s3xual penetration, lewd or lascivious acts by a caretaker against a dependent person involving force and elder abuse, along with a misdemeanor count of s3xual battery of a dependent adult.

 

 

 

He may have gone by the name Kay in professional or personal settings, investigators said.

 

 

 

The sheriff’s office said he is currently being held with a $100,000 bail in the Santa Barbara County Main Jail.
