The Nigerian Army is set to bolster its ranks with 6,195 newly recruited soldiers, who are scheduled to pass out today, Saturday, from the Depot Nigerian Army in Zaria, Kaduna State. The event, marking the Passing Out Parade (PoP) for the 88 Regular Recruit Intake (RRI), represents a significant stride in the military’s ongoing efforts to tackle the country’s security challenges.
The recruits, who commenced training on January 13, have completed a rigorous six-month intensive military training. Their graduation marks their formal integration into the Nigerian Army’s operational structure.
The new soldiers will be deployed across the country to support ongoing operations against insurgency in the North East, banditry and cattle rustling in the North West, farmers-herders clashes in the North Central, secessionist agitations and cultism in the South East, and militancy and infrastructure vandalism in the South South and South West.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, is the reviewing officer at today’s ceremony.
Following the PoP, the soldiers will undergo advanced military training, aimed at refining their combat readiness and familiarizing them with the Nigerian Army’s modern weapon systems and strategic operational approaches. The post-Depot training is part of a broader effort to equip the recruits with specialized skills necessary for modern warfare and mission-specific deployments.
This development underscores the Nigerian Army’s commitment to strengthening national security and enhancing its operational capabilities amid evolving threats across the country.
