Nigeria must embrace peace, unity — Obasanjo

Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo on Wednesday, enjoined Nigerians to embrace peace and unity. The ex-president said Nigerians need to be peaceful with one another to resolve the nation’s myriad of challenges.

Obasanjo, who is also the Prime Minister (Balogun) of Owu Kingdom, spoke at the traditional visit of the Olowu of Owu, Oba Dr Dosunmu to the various Owu sections in Abeokuta areas of Abeokuta North Local Government of Ogun State as part of the activities to mark the2021 Annual Odun Omo Olowu Day celebration.

He also preached unity among communities, noting that unity would ultimately bring peace and progress in the land.

A statement by his Media Aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, stated Obasanjo as praising the efforts of the Erunmu section for their enduring unity in the land.

Obasanjo stressed that the unity in Erunmu had brought tremendous progress, “because there is peace when there is unity among us. Such peace should be extended and by extension to the entire Owu kingdom.”

Obasanjo said the people still need to do more to foster corporation among sections, asserting, “it is only through working together that we can overcome challenges before us.”

The Balogun of Erunmu, Ekundayo Opaleye reported the section in the period under review, which included the installation of a new traditional ruler for Erunmu town.
