Niger State, six farmers killed in fresh attack in Unguwar Wawa

At least six farmers were reportedly killed last night in a fresh attack by suspected armed bandits in Unguwar Wawa community, located in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

This was disclosed in a post on X on Saturday by Bakatsine, a conflict and crisis journalist who reports on insecurity in Nigeria’s northwest.

According to the report, the assailants stormed the community at approximately 10:00 p.m., opening fire on farmers who were working on their farmlands.

Following the attack, the bandits fled the scene, leaving residents in a state of fear and grief.

The incident has intensified concerns over the deteriorating security situation in the area, particularly for rural farming communities, which have increasingly become targets of violent attacks.

Residents are calling for urgent action from security agencies to ensure the safety of vulnerable populations in remote areas.

Authorities and relevant security agencies have yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
