The Niger Delta Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Trade, Mines and Agriculture (NDCCITMA) has announced plans to attract up to $5 billion in structured investments into the region over the next five years.
Chairman of the chamber, Amb. Idaere Gogo Ogan, disclosed this during a pre-summit briefing ahead of the Niger Delta Economic and Investment Summit scheduled to hold in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
He said the initiative is expected to generate at least 500,000 direct and indirect jobs, boost economic activities, and drive wealth creation across the oil-rich region.
According to Ogan, the summit, themed “Driving Investment, Innovation, and Industrial Growth in the Niger Delta,” will take place from May 19 to 21, 2026, and will focus on key areas such as investment mobilisation, enterprise development, industrial growth, and regional collaboration.
President Bola Tinubu is expected to attend as the special guest of honour, while the Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Amor Mottley, will deliver the keynote address.
Ogan further noted that outcomes from the recent Niger Delta Business Roundtable highlighted the urgent need for the region to move from planning to practical implementation, with stakeholders calling for decisive action to unlock its economic potential.
Also speaking, NDCCITMA Secretary and Chairman of the summit’s Local Organising Committee, Dr. Solomon Edebiri, described the event as a strategic platform aimed at repositioning the Niger Delta as a viable destination for investment and sustainable industrial development.
He acknowledged the region’s long-standing contribution to Nigeria’s economy through oil and gas but stressed that its broader economic potential remains largely untapped.
Edebiri added that the committee has mapped out a series of promotional activities, including roadshows across the Niger Delta states, Lagos, and the Federal Capital Territory, alongside follow-up engagements to ensure widespread participation.
Other stakeholders present at the briefing included Chief Kelechi Obilor, Mrs. Boma Jack, and Hon. Marcel Odunze, among others.
