New Year of Renewed Hope: Awgu Council Chairman Okolo, in Alignment with Gov. Mbah’s Vision, Reaffirms Commitment to Inclusive Development

The Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Uchenna Joseph Okolo, has extended warm New Year greetings to Ndi Awgu, describing the new year as a season of renewed hope, deeper unity, and greater opportunities for collective progress.

In his New Year message, conveyed through his Special Adviser on General Media and Publicity, Hon. Tochukwu Chukwu, the Awgu Council Chairman urged residents to embrace the values of peace, hard work, mutual respect, and community spirit as the local government enters another year of purposeful governance and service delivery.

Hon. Okolo called on Ndi Awgu to build on the gains recorded in the outgoing year, encouraging families, youths, women, and community leaders to remain committed to peace, lawful conduct, and shared responsibility in driving development at the grassroots.

Reflecting on the journey so far, the Chairman expressed profound gratitude to God and to the people of Awgu for their continued support and cooperation, noting that the progress recorded within his first year in office was made possible through collective effort and unity of purpose.

He also used the opportunity to once again commend the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for his visionary leadership and bold infrastructural drive, which he said has transformed Enugu State into a hub of development, innovation, and economic renewal.

According to Hon. Okolo, Governor Mbah’s leadership has created an enabling environment for local governments to function effectively and deliver meaningful projects that directly impact the lives of the people.

“Governor Mbah has turned Enugu State into a construction site, and at the grassroots, we are proudly replicating that same development energy. Enugu is steadily becoming the pride of the South East, and Awgu is fully aligned with this vision through inclusive, people-driven governance,” the Chairman stated.

Looking ahead, Hon. Okolo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to consolidating ongoing projects and initiating new ones in the new year, particularly in the areas of water supply, road infrastructure, security, education, health, and social welfare.

He assured Ndi Awgu that the Awgu Water for All Initiative, road projects linking Smart Green Schools, enhanced security infrastructure, and other people-oriented programmes will be sustained and expanded in the new year to ensure that development reaches every community.

The Chairman concluded by wishing Ndi Awgu a peaceful, prosperous, and fulfilling New Year, praying that the year ahead brings greater unity, progress, good health, and shared prosperity to families and communities across Awgu Local Government Area.
