A 30-year-old man, Samuel Monday, was killed by a suspected Fulani herdsman in the Barmo community, Wamba Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, on Tuesday.
The Oriye of Barmo, Yakubu Sarki, made the disclosure on Wednesday when the state Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dogo Shammah, who hails from the area, paid a condolence visit to the deceased’s family and the traditional ruler.
He explained that a suspected Fulani herdsman snatched Monday’s motorcycle and manhandled him before killing him.
“A suspected herdsman snatched the motorcycle of the young man and tortured him before he died. He has been arrested by the youths of the community and handed over to the police in Wamba,” Sarki stated.
He appealed to the state government to come to the aid of the residents and rescue the community from the hands of Fulani herdsmen, who had been disturbing their peace.

“People of the community no longer go to their farms or move freely because of the notorious herdsmen. I was recently attacked by fully armed herdsmen on my farm, “he added.
In his response, Shammah expressed worry over the ugly incident and urged the youth and members of the community not to take laws into their own hands as a way of revenge.
He gave an assurance that the state government would take appropriate measures to proffer a lasting solution to the issue of insecurity in the community and the state at large.
