Naira Records Highest Single-Day Appreciation Against Dollar

The naira recorded its highest single-day appreciation against the dollar at the official foreign exchange on Wednesday as the country’s currency continued its three-day gain this week.

The Central Bank of Nigeria’s FX data showed that it strengthened to N1,565.46 per dollar on Wednesday from N 1,579.27 exchanged on Tuesday.

This indicates that the naira appreciated significantly by N13.81 against the dollar on a day-to-day basis, the highest gain since Monday, June 2, 2025. The gain recorded at the official foreign exchange market on Wednesday surpassed the combined gains recorded on Monday and Tuesday, which stood at N6.88.

Similarly, a Bureau de Change operator in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja, Abubakar Alhasan, revealed that the naira strengthened to N1613 per dollar on Wednesday from N1614 traded the previous day on the black market.

“We buy at N1600 and sell at N1613 on Wednesday compared to N1615 on Tuesday,” he said.

UGAMATV reports that the naira has continued to appreciate across FX markets since Monday this week.
