N500k Ransom Collected Before Murder: Man Arrested for Abducting and Killing 16-Year-Old Girl

 

 

Operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Ogun State Police Command, have arrested a 30-year-old man for the alleged abduction and killing of a 16-year-old girl named Adegbaaju Florence in the Ogijo area of Sagamu Local Government.

 

UGAMATV gathered that the suspect, identified as Bayegun Nathaniel, despite collecting a ransom of N500,000, killed the victim and disposed of her corpse in a river within the area.

 

When contacted on Tuesday, the police spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi said the suspect was apprehended following sustained intelligence-led operations.

 

 

“The incident occurred on Wednesday, 8th April 2026, at about 1700hrs, when the victim was abducted in Ogiijo. Upon receiving the report, the Command immediately activated its Anti-Kidnapping response mechanism and commenced a coordinated investigation.

 

“Through sustained intelligence gathering and strategic operations, detectives on Saturday, 2nd May 2026, at about 1400hrs, successfully arrested the suspect in connection with the case.”

 

 

Babaseyi stated that efforts are currently ongoing to locate and recover the remains for necessary forensic procedures, and investigation continues to ensure a thorough and conclusive process.

 

Reacting, the State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, expressed sympathy to the family of the deceased and assured them that justice will be diligently pursued.

 

He reiterated the command’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property and to bringing perpetrators of violent crimes to justice.
