N30 Million Donation From Kebbi State government: CAN Makes Clearifications

The Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Kebbi State chapter, has debunked reports claiming it rejected a N30 million donation from the state government during a recent Christian crusade in Birnin Kebbi.

In a statement signed by its chairman, Venerable Ayyuba Kanta, the association clarified that the money was not a personal gift to any religious leader but support from the state government for the Kebbi State Healing and Deliverance Crusade.

“The N30 million was in support of the crusade jointly organized by the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, and CAN Kebbi State chapter,” the statement said.

According to the association, Pastor Paul Enenche, who ministered at the event, has a standing policy not to accept personal gifts during his ministry activities. Based on his recommendation, the funds were redirected by the state CAN leadership towards developmental projects.

The association confirmed that part of the money was used for the construction of a perimeter fence at the Christian cemetery recently approved by Governor Nasir Idris.

CAN also expressed gratitude to the governor for his support, including the release of the state stadium for the crusade, use of the banquet hall at the Presidential Lodge for a ministers’ meeting, and the facilitation of palliative distribution to students and women during the event.

The group reaffirmed its cordial relationship with the state government, describing Governor Idris as “a jolly friend of all Christians and CAN leadership in the state.”
