My cancer treatment to be reduced next year after early diagnosis – King Charles

King Charles III has announced that his cancer treatment will be scaled back in the new year, crediting early diagnosis, effective medical care and strict adherence to doctors’ advice for his progress.

The 77-year-old monarch shared the update in a recorded message broadcast on British television as part of a campaign encouraging the public to take advantage of cancer screening, which can detect the disease at its most treatable stages.

“Early diagnosis quite simply saves lives,” Charles said, noting that it made a major difference in his own case and has enabled him to continue “leading a full and active life even while undergoing treatment.”

Charles reflected on the 22 months since publicly revealing his diagnosis, which marked a shift from traditional royal practice that keeps personal health matters private. Buckingham Palace had explained at the time that he chose transparency to avoid speculation and to help raise global awareness about cancer.

Following his announcement, Cancer Research UK recorded a 33% rise in visits to its website as people sought information about symptoms and early detection.

Palace officials have not disclosed the specific type of cancer involved, but confirmed it was discovered while he was receiving treatment for an enlarged prostate, which led to further examinations.
