Multi-State Car Theft Operation Busted: Kano Police Arrest Two Suspects, Recover Stolen Fleet

 

The Kano State Police Command says it has arrested two suspected car thieves and recovered three stolen vehicles in separate operations.

This is according to a statement signed by the police spokesman, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa on Tuesday.

The statement said on August 18, 2025, a woman from Badawa Quarters reported that her 2011 Hyundai Elantra was stolen from outside a school in Nasarawa GRA, Kano.

The statement added that after investigation, the car was traced to Zaria, Kaduna State, and recovered on August 23.

According to the statement:
“Arrest of Suspects and Recovery of Stolen Siena Bus Motor Vehicle: On 18th August, 2025, information was received from a good Samaritan regarding the theft of a Motor Vehicle, Siena Bus, sky blue in color with registration number GAK 556 from Bauchi State.”

“Prompt action by the Police Patrol Team attached to Wudil Division led to the interception of the vehicle and the arrest of two suspects: Yunusa Muhammad a.k.a Yellow ‘M’, 35 years old, and Abdulwahab Bala m, 23, all of Bauchi State.”

The statement said earlier, on August 5, 2025, a resident of Sabon Gari reported his Pontiac Vibe (2006 model) stolen from in front of his house. Police later recovered the vehicle in Adamawa State following a tip-off.

According to the statement, on August 18, 2025, police received information about a stolen Siena bus with Bauchi registration.

Patrol teams in Wudil intercepted the vehicle and arrested two suspects: 35-year-old Yunusa Muhammad, also known as “Yellow,” and 23-year-old Abdulwahab Bala, both from Bauchi State.

The police said the suspects will face charges in court once investigations are concluded, and the vehicles will be returned to their rightful owners.

Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised the officers involved and thanked the public for their cooperation.

He encouraged residents to continue reporting suspicious activities and provided emergency numbers.
