“Mothers of the Nation”: Awgu Council Chairman Okolo Celebrates Women, Reaffirms Commitment to Their Welfare and Empowerment

 

AWGU, ENUGU STATE — The Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, has paid glowing tribute to women in celebration of International Women’s Day, describing them as the “mothers of the world and pillars of the human race.”

In a goodwill message issued to commemorate the global event, the council chairman applauded the resilience, sacrifices, and invaluable contributions of women to family, community, and national development.

The message, which was conveyed through his Special Adviser on General Media and Publicity, Tochukwu Chukwu, emphasized that women remain the foundation upon which strong societies are built.

Hon. Okolo noted that from nurturing families to shaping leadership and development across communities, women continue to demonstrate exceptional strength, wisdom, and dedication that drive progress in every sphere of life.

“Women are the mothers of the world and the backbone of every thriving society. Their sacrifices, resilience, and leadership continue to shape the future of our communities and nation,” the statement read.

The Awgu council chairman also commended the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, for his administration’s deliberate efforts toward women’s integration in governance and development. He praised the governor’s commitment to inclusive leadership through policies and initiatives that promote women’s participation in government and empower them economically and socially.

According to Hon. Okolo, the strides made by the state government in advancing women-focused programs have significantly strengthened opportunities for women to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the state.

Reaffirming his administration’s commitment, the council chairman assured women in Awgu Local Government Area that their welfare, empowerment, and inclusion will remain a priority of his leadership.

He stressed that his administration will continue to support programs and initiatives aimed at improving the wellbeing of women, encouraging their participation in leadership, and creating opportunities that will enable them to thrive.

Hon. Okolo concluded by celebrating the courage, dignity, and achievements of women in Awgu and across the nation, urging them to continue playing their vital roles in building stronger families, communities, and a more prosperous society.

“Today and always, we celebrate the strength, grace, and contributions of our mothers, sisters, and daughters whose impact continues to inspire hope and progress in our communities,” he said.
