Mohbad’s father gives Lagos AG 14 days to prosecute wife, nurse, Prime Boy and others over singer’s death

The father of late singer Mohbad, Mr. Joseph Aloba, has demanded that the Lagos State Attorney General, Lawal Pedro (SAN), take immediate action to prosecute his son’s wife, Omowunmi Aloba, the auxiliary nurse Ogedengbe Fisayo, Prime Boy, and others indicted in the tragic death of the singer.

Aloba, through his lawyer, Dr. Wahab Shittu (SAN), submitted a petition on October 3, 2025, insisting that the suspects must be charged within 14 days based on the findings of the coroner’s inquest.

The petition comes nearly three months after Magistrate Adetayo Shotobi of the Ikorodu Magistrate Court delivered the coroner’s verdict, which indicted several people for complicity in Mohbad’s death.

According to the verdict, the nurse, Ogedengbe Fisayo, was faulted for unlawful medical practice and gross negligence after administering injections on Mohbad without any medical diagnosis.

The coroner also faulted Omowunmi, stating that as Mohbad’s closest person, she was negligent by allowing an uncertified nurse to handle his treatment instead of calling emergency services or ensuring proper hospital care.

Prime Boy and others who were present when the 27-year-old singer was in distress were equally faulted for failing to urgently move him to a hospital.

Shittu stressed that despite the clear indictments, no prosecution has taken place since the verdict was delivered in July, raising fears that justice may be delayed.

Quoting directly from the verdict, he noted that the auxiliary nurse administered three injections — tetanus, paracetamol, and ceftriaxone — without any diagnosis, describing her actions as unlawful and reckless.

He further reminded the Attorney General that the inquest also held Omowunmi culpable for negligence, as she witnessed the emergency but did not insist on proper medical attention.

The petition warned that if the state fails to act within the 14-day window, Aloba’s legal team will seek a fiat to prosecute the matter on behalf of the state under the Lagos State criminal justice law.

The late singer’s father emphasised that the matter remains of intense public concern and vowed to pursue justice until

those indicted are held accountable.
