Miracle in Ebonyi: Pregnant Woman and Husband Escape Death as Tree Crushes Tricycle

A pregnant woman and her husband narrowly escaped death on Thursday, June 19, 2025, when a massive mango tree collapsed on their tricycle near Igboji Primary School in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

The terrifying incident occurred in the afternoon and caused widespread panic among residents who rushed to the scene, fearing the worst.

However, eyewitnesses described the couple’s survival as nothing short of miraculous.

  • “The tree fell directly on the keke, and it was completely flattened. We couldn’t believe our eyes when the man and his pregnant wife came out unharmed. Everyone was shouting and thanking God,” a resident said.

According to reports, the couple was on their way home when the decades-old mango tree suddenly gave way, crashing onto the moving tricycle and destroying it completely.

Calls for Action

The shocking incident has sparked concerns among locals about the dangers posed by aging and weakened trees, especially those located in public areas such as schools, roadsides, and residential neighborhoods.

Community members are now urging local authorities to carry out urgent assessments and cut down hazardous trees to prevent future tragedies.

“We’ve been complaining about these old trees. It’s time the government took action before lives are lost,” another resident warned.

While no injuries were reported, the mangled remains of the tricycle served as a grim reminder of what could have been a fatal accident.
