A surge of grassroots support for Governor Peter Mbah’s second-term ambition swept through Mburubu community in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State as residents trooped out en masse for the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) e-registration exercise.

The mobilisation, coordinated by the Chief Executive Officer of First Choice Afro Villa Ltd and Mburubu Construction Company, Dr. Jerry Patrick Onuokaibe, attracted Ozo title holders, Ndi Nze, the community’s oldest man, women groups, youths and key political stakeholders. The turnout was widely viewed as an endorsement of the governor’s performance in office.

During the exercise, former ward chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP) publicly declared their support for the APC and Governor Mbah.

Addressing participants, Dr. Onuokaibe commended the governor for what he described as unprecedented infrastructural development in the area, particularly the ongoing road projects.

“The scale of road construction we are witnessing is massive and transformative. What Governor Mbah is doing in Mburubu is overwhelming. This is why we must support him. Other senatorial zones have had their two terms; it is now our turn to ensure continuity,” he said.

He stressed that the people of Nkanu East were united in their resolve to secure a second term for the governor.

“We are fully prepared to stand by him. We do not want him to struggle for re-election. It is our collective duty as Nkanu East people to return him for a second tenure,” he added.

Onuokaibe attributed the large turnout at the APC e-registration to appreciation of the governor’s leadership, dismissing suggestions of inducement.

“This has nothing to do with money. People are registering because they can see and feel the impact of good governance,” he said, declaring that Mburubu had resolved to back the APC and Governor Mbah without reservation.

He also dismissed reports of dissent and planned protests, expressing confidence that unity and shared interest would prevail in the community.

Onuokaibe further thanked Governor Mbah for appointing a son of Mburubu as a commissioner, describing the move as evidence of the governor’s inclusive approach to governance.

Speaking separately, former Chairman of the PDP in Enugu State, Dr. Martins Chukwunweike, described the APC as a viable platform for sustaining Governor Mbah’s development agenda beyond 2027.

He said the governor assumed office well prepared and has continued to deliver on his campaign promises across the state.

“The APC provides the best platform to consolidate the development trajectory currently unfolding in Enugu State. I urge the people to vote for the broom at all levels,” he said.

Chukwunweike expressed confidence that Governor Mbah’s performance had placed him in a strong position ahead of the next election, assuring residents that inclusiveness would remain central to the party, particularly during upcoming ward congresses.

Also speaking, the leader of Umuada Peter Mbah, Peace Patrick, urged residents to remain steadfast in their support for the governor, describing him as a worthy son whose projects are already reshaping the community.

“The smart school, Type II hospital and ongoing road construction clearly show what this administration means for Mburubu. Supporting Governor Mbah for a second term is in our collective interest,” she said, adding that active APC registration was the clearest expression of that support.
