Masked men kill three residents in Kaduna fresh attacks

Six gunmen wearing masks and dressed in black uniforms invaded Warsa Piti, in Mariri District of the Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State and killed two persons on Monday.

The gunmen were said to have shot indiscriminately, killing the two villagers before escaping into the forest when military personnel arrived at the area.

The state Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr Samuel Aruwan, on Tuesday added that the bandits attacked Randagi village in the Birnin Gwari LGA, killing one and injuring many villagers.

The commissioner added that in a separate attack, unidentified youths raided herders’ settlement in Kurmin Bi village of the Zangon Kataf LGA, killing six cows while four persons were injured.

He said, “The military under the auspices of Operation Safe Haven reported an attack by bandits at Warsa Piti, in Mariri District of Lere Local Government Area.

“Troops on receiving a distress call mobilised to the location and engaged the assailants who then fled into the forest. However, two citizens had already been killed, identified as Sale Muhammad and Aguno Bawuro.

“Similarly, the government  received reports of an attack on Randagi village in Birnin Gwari LGA. One Dantani Maifaskari was killed and some others injured by bandits, who also looted shops.

“In a separate incident, the military also reported that unidentified youths attacked a herders’ settlement in Kurmin Bi village of Zangon Kataf LGA.

“The herders in the settlement escaped but six cows were killed by the attackers, with four others injured. A house was also burnt down within the settlement.”

He said Governor Nasir El-Rufai expressed concern over the renewed.
