
According to a statement released on Saturday, June 28, 2025, by the spokesperson for the Yobe State Police Command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the tragic incident occurred around 11:00 a.m. and was reported by local residents to the Tarmuwa Divisional Police Headquarters.
“Hamidu Ali attacked and macheted his wife to death for unknown reasons and fled the scene,” Abdulkarim said. He emphasized that the command strongly condemns the use of violence under the guise of seeking justice, calling it “capricious and illegal.”
The Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, has ordered a manhunt for the suspect and assured the public that all necessary efforts are being made to apprehend and prosecute him.
The Commissioner also appealed to the people of Yobe State to remain law-abiding and avoid taking matters into their own hands.
“We urge communities to report grievances to appropriate authorities and promote peaceful conflict resolution,” the statement read. “Support from the public is crucial in helping law enforcement maintain peace and order.”
As of the time of this report, the suspect remains at large, and the police continue to investigate the motive behind the attack.
