Man arrested for allegedly vandalizing, stealing cables in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a man for allegedly vandalising electricity installations.

The command also recovered quantities of armoured cables the suspect allegedly stole.

The command, in a statement, signed and passed to newsmen Saturday night by police image maker, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, said the arrest of Haruna Muhammed, 29, and recovery of his loot were carried out in Mubi, Adamawa’s international commercial nerve centre, on the northern tip of the state.

It stated that on Friday, July 30, the Command’s operatives attached to Mubi South Division, following credible and timely information received from a good Samaritan, arrested one of three notorious suspects for vandalising and stealing high tension electrical armoured cables that connect Maiha, Mubi and neighboring villages.

“The suspect, Haruna Muhammed, 29 years old and a resident of Angwan Kara, Mubi South LGA, was apprehended in his hideout along Mugulvu behind cemetery while waiting for his accomplices,” the command stated.

It said the state Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Adamu, called on members of the general public to continue giving timely information regarding any person or group of persons with suspicious character around their neighborhood.

“The police boss directs a discreet investigation into the matter and assures that the suspect will be prosecuted accordingly,” the command said.
