Malawian father breaks down at relocation site in South Africa amid repatriation process

A Malawian national father was seen breaking down emotionally at the Old Durban Drive-In site in South Africa, where foreign nationals were being accommodated as part of ongoing repatriation arrangements.

He is among several parents currently awaiting processing and return to Malawi, following relocation procedures linked to immigration enforcement operations.

Visibly distressed, the man described his situation in emotional terms, saying: “No house. No mattress. No promise of tomorrow. Just a father, and a baby who does not understand why they are here.”

He added that he initially came to South Africa in search of work opportunities, but is now facing return with only his child and limited belongings.

Many of those at the site are reportedly waiting to be processed before being deported or voluntarily repatriated to their home countries, as authorities continue with logistical arrangements.
