Major Political Earthquake: Atiku Abubakar’s Son Defects, Declares Support for Tinubu

Abba Abubakar, son of former Vice President and PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, has officially dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a move that has sent shockwaves through Nigeria’s political space, Abba Abubakar publicly declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, describing it as a decision driven by national interest and the need for continuity.

Political observers say the defection is a major boost for the APC and a significant blow to the PDP, especially as permutations for the 2027 general elections begin to take shape.

With this latest development, the political realignments ahead of 2027 are gaining momentum, signaling tougher battles and unexpected alliances in the months ahead.
