Major Blow for APC as Nasiru Gawuna Resigns Membership

A former Kano State governorship candidate, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, has left the All Progressives Congress, APC.

This was confirmed by former presidential media aide, Bashir Ahmad, via his X account on Monday night.

Ahmad bemoaned Gawuna’s exit and claimed it wasn’t a good development.

He wrote: “Unfortunately, we have lost the former Kano State gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 general elections, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, as he has formally resigned his membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC). This isn’t good!”

This comes hours after Gawuna resigned as the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, FMBN.

In a resignation letter dated March 27, 2026, he explained that his decision takes immediate effect and follows the President’s directive for compliance with electoral laws ahead of upcoming political activities.
