Lagos Policemen Escort Bulldozer As Magodo Residents Protest Demolition Of Houses

Some residents of Magodo Phase 2 Estate have formed a human shield at the entrance of the estate to prevent a bulldozer from gaining entrance.

On Wednesday, residents trooped out of their houses to protest against the demolition of their houses.

According to the residents, police earlier visited the estate with a group of “hoodlums” and they “marked virtually all the houses in the fully-built estate for demolition.”

The policemen reportedly arrived again on Monday night, and a bulldozer was also brought to begin demolition.

The armed mobile police officers were reportedly there to provide security so that the demolition could take place without the homeowners fighting back.
In videos shared online, the residents, mainly males, trooped out to “form a human shield at the entrance of the gate” so that the bulldozer would not be driven in.
