With less than ten months to the governorship election, political maneuvering has intensified among aspirants seeking the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State to succeed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Sources indicate that President Bola Tinubu may support a candidate lacking a strong political structure, as key figures including Hamzat, Okunola, Ambode, Seyi, and Jandor remain in contention while stakeholders await his decision.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released a revised timetable for the 2027 general elections following adjustments introduced by the new Electoral Act, 2026.
Under the updated schedule, Presidential and National Assembly elections will now take place on January 16, 2027, while Governorship and State Assembly elections are set for February 6, 2027.
Party primaries, including the resolution of related disputes, are scheduled to run from April 23 to May 30, 2026.
