Lady, 28, reportedly beaten to death after damaging a man’s car in Ajah

A sad incident has been reported in the Ajah area of Lagos, where a 28-year-old lady identified as Juliet lost her life following an argument that escalated into violence.

According to Punch, Juliet had a dispute with a yet-to-be-identified man on Monday and, in the heat of the argument, she smashed the windshield of his car.

Witnesses said the man became angered and allegedly went to call some boys in the area. The group reportedly attacked Juliet, tied her up, and took her to an uncompleted building where she was beaten until she went into a coma.

By the time people around got wind of what was happening and attempted to rush her to the hospital, she was already dead.

A source who spoke about the incident described it as a needless tragedy. The source said Juliet may have acted wrongly by breaking the car windshield, but that the situation should never have led to her death. According to the source, the lawful step would have been to involve the police rather than resorting to violence.

Another security source in the area claimed Juliet may have been under the influence of alcohol during the altercation, which may have contributed to the situation escalating the way it did.

Police officers were said to have arrived at the scene shortly after the incident. Three suspects have been arrested, including the man’s wife. The case has now been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, for further investigation.

The Lagos Police spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the development and assured that the case is being handled.

This is not the first time misunderstandings have turned deadly. Earlier in the year, a 23-year-old man in Alimosho was arrested for allegedly beating his girlfriend to death. In June, a 19-year-old upcoming Nigerian artiste was also beaten to death in Ghana after being accused of withholding business funds.
