Rev. Prof. Sunday Bobai Agang, a senior cleric of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) and Chairman of its Board of Trustees, has been released after being kidnapped from his residence in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The church’s Acting Public Relations Officer, Danjuma Auta, confirmed the development in a statement issued in Jos, noting that the cleric is now safe.
“We are filled with gratitude and joy to announce the release of our dear pastor, Rev. Prof. Sunday Bobai Agang, who was abducted by unknown gunmen. He has regained his freedom and is in good condition,” the statement said.
ECWA expressed appreciation to God for what it described as an answered prayer and commended members of the church and the global Christian community for their steadfast support during the ordeal. The church described the development as a reflection of divine faithfulness and the power of collective prayers.
Despite celebrating his safe return, the church raised concerns over the growing insecurity in the country, highlighting the alarming rise in kidnapping cases.
It warned that the trend poses a serious threat to national stability and called on authorities at all levels to take urgent and decisive steps to tackle criminal networks responsible for such acts.
The church also reaffirmed its commitment to praying for peace, security, and the well-being of all Nigerians.
Rev. Agang was abducted on Tuesday morning from his residence in Farin Gada, Jos North LGA.
