Kebbi state governor suspends health commissioner

The Kebbi State governor, Nasir Idris, has approved the immediate suspension of the state’s Commissioner for Health Yunusa Musa Ismail.

This comes after several videos showing the deplorable state of hospitals in the state went viral.

A statement issued on Thursday, September 11, by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Yahayya Sarki, says the decision followed a directive from the governor requesting the Commissioner to provide a detailed explanation for alleged negligence of duty and failure to uphold the responsibilities of his office.

According to the statement, the suspension remains in effect until further notice.

Some influencers in the state shared several videos online showing how public health facilities in the state were in bad shape. Yesterday, LIB shared a video showing a flooded public hospital in the state with ailing patients inside it.
