The Kano State Police Command has recovered a fake AK-47 rifle from the residence of one of the suspects arrested in connection with the murder of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Rano Local Government Area, CSP Baba Ali.
This was revealed by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, in a statement shared via his official Facebook page.
“A fake AK-47 rifle was discovered at the home of one of the suspects arrested in connection with the murder of the DPO of Rano during investigation,” Kiyawa stated.
CSP Baba Ali was reportedly killed during a violent protest in Rano LGA following the death of a suspect in police custody.
The police have since arrested 41 suspects believed to have been directly involved in the unrest that led to the senior officer’s death.
