Kano Hisbah arrests nine young girls over alleged prostitution

The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested nine young girls for allegedly engaging in prostitution, popularly referred to as “Good Evening Girls.”

The Board’s Deputy Commander General, Dr. Mujahideen Aminuddeen, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, December 27, 2025.

He said the suspects, eight females and a male, were apprehended during an end-of-year special operation carried out on Friday night along major streets in Kano metropolis.

“The board has, during its end-of-the-year special operation, stormed some major streets in the metropolis, and our personnel were lucky to apprehend eight young girls and a boy who posed as ‘Good Evening Girls,’” Aminuddeen said.

“These young girls are usually picked by wealthy individuals who take them to places they want, have fun with them and give them money ranging from N5,000 to N30,000.”

Aminuddeen said the girls, aged between 15 and 20, confessed to having been involved in prostitution for some time.

The operation was conducted on several streets including Zoo Road, Banana Zoo Road, Ahmadu Bello Way, Lamido Crescent, Tukur Road, Lodge Road, Nassarawa Hospital Road, Magajin Rumfa Road, Sultan Road Nassarawa, and Audu Bako Way.

The Deputy Commander-General added that the board would continue to raid such areas to apprehend violators of Shari’a law in the state.

He also urged parents to ensure the proper upbringing of their daughters to curb prostitution and other social vices.

Aminuddeen stated that once ongoing investigations are concluded, the suspects would be charged to court for appropriate prosecution.
