Kano Governor Sets Up Committee to Probe Commissioner’s Involvement in Suspected Drug Trafficker’s Bail

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has ordered a full investigation into the alleged role of the State Commissioner for Transport, Alhaji Ibrahim Namadi, in the controversial bail of a suspected drug baron, Sulaiman Aminu Dan Wawu.

This followed public outrage after reports claimed the Commissioner’s name appeared in documents used to secure the suspect’s release.

This was contained in a statement on Saturday signed by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

According to the statement, the Governor has set up a special committee to look into the matter immediately.

“The Governor has directed a full-scale investigation into the allegations surrounding the bail of the suspected drug trafficker. A special investigative committee has been set up to get to the root of the matter

“The committee is mandated to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and recommend appropriate actions with immediate effect,” the statement said.

The committee is chaired by Barrister Aminu Hussain, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Justice and Constitutional Matters.

“The panel includes Barr. Aminu Hussain as Chairman; Barr. Hamza Haladu, Barr. Hamza Nuhu Dantani, Alhaji Abdullahi Mahmoud Umar, Maj. Gen. Sani Muhammad (Rtd.), and Comrade Kabiru Said Dakata as members; while Hajiya Bilkisu Maimota will serve as Secretary.”

Governor Yusuf expressed concern over the report and said his administration will not tolerate any form of misconduct or support for criminal activities.
