The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the sudden passing of Ambassador Taofik Obasanjo Coker, Nigeria’s Consul General in Buea, Republic of Cameroon.
According to a statement signed by the Ministry’s spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Ambassador Coker died on Saturday, August 16, after a brief illness.
Describing the late diplomat as a “hardworking and dedicated career officer,” the ministry said Coker served Nigeria with distinction, commitment, and professionalism in various capacities during his decades-long career.
“Prior to his appointment and assumption of duty as Consul-General of Nigeria in Buea, he served Nigeria meritoriously in our Missions in Conakry, Guinea, and Shanghai, China,” the statement noted.
The ministry expressed deep sorrow over his passing, extending heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, and friends. It also offered prayers for the peaceful repose of his soul.
Ambassador Coker’s death is considered a huge loss to Nigeria’s diplomatic community, particularly as he was actively serving in a strategic mission before his demise.
