Judge Orders Nnamdi Kanu’s Sister-in-Law to Leave Courtroom for Recording Proceedings

Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered Mrs. Favour Kanu, the sister-in-law of the self-acclaimed leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, to leave the courtroom after discovering that she had recorded and shared proceedings from the court on social media.

The judge, visibly displeased by the breach of courtroom protocol, barred her from attending the next three sittings of the court. He stated that he would have cited her for contempt of court if not for the intervention of the defence lawyer, Kanu Agabi.

Before issuing the decision, Justice Omotosho invited Favour to the front of the courtroom to explain her actions.

She admitted to live-streaming the court proceedings but claimed she did not realise the judge was still sitting. She apologised and assured the court that she would not repeat the offence.
