*Jubilation across Awgu as Enugu first lady’s foundation Launches Free Medical Outreach*

 

In a remarkable display of compassion and commitment to public health, over 500 residents of Awgu Local Government Area benefited from a free medical outreach program organized by the Custos Care Foundation, the pet project of Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah, the wife of the Enugu State Governor. The initiative, launched on Friday, aims to enhance healthcare delivery and reduce poverty and mortality rates in the region.

The Custos Care Foundation, a non-governmental organization established by Mrs. Mbah, focuses on providing essential social services to underserved and socially excluded populations. The outreach event aligns with the Enugu State government’s ongoing efforts to bolster healthcare access and improve the overall well-being of its citizens.

During the event, Mrs. Philomena Asogwa, the leader of the medical team from the Enugu State Health Management Board, addressed the audience, emphasizing the significance of self-care and preventive health measures. She encouraged community members to adopt healthier lifestyles to enhance longevity and reduce the incidence of preventable diseases.

In an exclusive interview with UGAMATV, Comrade Egodi Igwe, the Managing Director of Custos Care Foundation, shared insights into the foundation’s mission. She revealed that over the past year, the foundation has been actively involved in various medical outreach initiatives, particularly targeting women and underprivileged groups in society. “Our goal is to empower individuals through health education and access to essential medical services,” she stated.

Comrade Igwe also highlighted several other programs undertaken by the foundation, including vocational training for women and youth, mother and child healthcare services, free health insurance schemes, and mentorship programs aimed at fostering personal and professional development.

Community members expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Mbah for her timely intervention in addressing their medical needs without charge. Many residents shared stories of the challenges they faced in accessing healthcare, underscoring the importance of outreach in providing much-needed support.

Mr. Ndubuisi Fidelis Nwauzoigwe, Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman of Awgu, commended the First Lady for her dedication to improving healthcare in the region. He expressed optimism that such initiatives would significantly reduce poverty and mortality rates in the community, fostering a healthier future for all residents.

In an Interesting turn of events, the Chairman of the board of Enugu State Hospital management, Prof. Dr. Uche Agu, Spoke on the positive impact of Gov.Mbah’s administration, with emphasis on his commitment to ensuring good health for all citizens, of Enugu, Dr. Uche then commended the wife of the Governor for her support through her initiatives for the common benefit of Enugu people.

Hon. Uchenna Joseph Okolo, the Executive Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, delivered a heartfelt message of appreciation to Mrs. Mbah, acknowledging her unwavering commitment to the welfare of the Awgu people. He emphasized the critical role of such initiatives in enhancing public health and improving the quality of life for the beneficiaries.

The free medical outreach not only reflects a broader commitment to improving healthcare access but also fosters hope, inclusivity, and solidarity among the grassroots population.

As the Custos Care Foundation continues its mission, the people of Awgu can look forward to a healthier and more empowered future.
