A Junior Secondary School 3 student allegedly beat his teacher to death during a confrontation over a seized school cap in Benue State.

 

 

 

 

The incident happened on Thursday, July 10, 2025, in Oju Local Government Area of the state.

 

 

 

 

According to security analyst, Zagazola Makama, the suspect, identified as 16-year-old Friday Ogamude, a student of UBE Oju Centre, confronted his teacher, Mr. Oyibe Oyibe, aged 35, over a cap the teacher had confiscated since May 2025.

 

 

 

The confrontation quickly escalated when the student allegedly struck the teacher during a heated exchange.

 

 

 

 

 

The teacher reportedly slumped on the spot. He was immediately rushed to Amara Hospital, Oju, where he was confirmed d3ad by a medical doctor.

 

 

 

The body of the deceased has been photographed and deposited at the General Hospital, Oju, for autopsy, while investigations into the incident are ongoing.

 

 

 

Police say the suspect was arrested as the command condemned the act and assured the public that justice will be served.
