Israeli Tourist Dies in Abuja Hotel After Sudden Illness

A 73-year-old Israeli man, Avi Warshaviak, has died after suddenly falling ill at a hotel in the Garki area of Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

The incident occurred on Saturday at Corinthia Villa Hotel, where Warshaviak was staying with his wife. According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the tourist developed a medical emergency around 9:51 a.m. and was rushed to the Asokoro General Hospital.

Despite the swift response, doctors at the hospital pronounced him dead shortly after arrival.

The hotel’s Chief Security Officer, Okorie Emmanuel, reported the incident to the Garki Divisional Police Headquarters at about 11:23 a.m. Police officers subsequently visited both the hotel and the hospital, documented the case, and transferred the body to the hospital mortuary for an autopsy.

Authorities are currently liaising with the Israeli Embassy in Nigeria to complete the required consular processes.
