IPOB alleges members’ harassment in Ghana, seeks ECOWAS intervention

THE Indigenous People of Biafra has warned Ghana to stop harassing ‘Biafra’ people living in that country.

It called on the Economic Community of West African States to intervene.

IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, said this on Wednesday in a statement made available to our correspondent in Awka, Anambra State.

It accused the Ghana Government of collaborating with its Nigerians counterpart to intimidate the people.

The group’s statement read in part, “The attention of the Indigenous People of Biafra has been drawn to the arrest, intimidation, harassment and incessant torture and humiliation of Biafrans living in Ghana by Ghana government and its security agencies.

“It’s quite unfortunate that the Government of Ghana has made itself a willing accomplice to the oppressive Nigeria Government to suppress the agitation for Biafra restoration. But Biafra is irrepressible no matter how hard the enemies try.

“We are looking for 82 citizens of Biafra in Ghana. Ghana arrested and detained them two years ago and kept them incommunicado.”
