A tragic incident has rocked Gurugram, India, as 25-year-old Radhika Yadav—a state-level tennis player and coach—was allegedly shot and killed by her father, Deepak Yadav, at their residence in Sushant Lok Phase 2 on Thursday, July 10.
The police confirmed that the shooting occurred around 10 a.m. when the accused reportedly fired five rounds at his daughter, with three bullets striking her. Radhika was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Authorities arrested the father shortly after the incident. During preliminary investigations, he confessed to the crime, allegedly citing frustration over his daughter’s increasing involvement in creating Instagram reels as a motive.
Police say the complaint was lodged by the suspect’s brother. Investigators visited the Yadav residence and gathered evidence confirming the fatal shooting.
Radhika Yadav, born on March 23, 2000, was known for her achievements in tennis and reportedly ran a tennis academy. Though not officially confirmed by the International Tennis Federation (ITF), some reports claim she once ranked 113th in doubles.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage and sorrow across the sports community and on social media, with many calling for mental health awareness and more responsible ways to resolve family conflicts.
