The Principal Counsel, Basil N. Nwoke & Co, Mr Basil Nwoke, has said contrary to media report, a lawyer, late Amechi Udogaranya, did not die from stray bullet.

UGAMATV  had on October 1, 2021 reported that stray bullet killed Udogaranya during a clash between officials of the Owerri Capital Development Authority and members of the state chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Owerri.

But Nwoke who wrote on behalf of the deceased’s widow and his family, in a letter dated December 9, 2021, said contrary to the report, Udogaranya died of ill-health.

Attaching a death certificate issued by Six-C Specialist Clinic, Owerri, he said the deceased was in the hospital for nearly two weeks before he died on September 30, 2021.

Nwoke said the clarification was necessary because of the negative insinuations that the stray bullet story had caused.
