Ihedioha Champions Unity as ADC Welcomes High-Profile Defectors in Owerri Meeting

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Imo State on Tuesday, convened a special stakeholders meeting at its State Secretariat in Owerri, drawing party leaders, captains of industry, and high-profile dignitaries, highlighting the party’s growing influence in the state.

The event marked a significant political realignment as former Governor of Imo State, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, formally presented new members who defected from the Labour Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Obidient Movement into the ADC fold.

In his address, Ihedioha urged party members to work collectively and selflessly to strengthen the unity, growth, and progress of the ADC, stressing that cohesion, discipline, and shared purpose are key to building a formidable political platform capable of delivering good governance.

Other speakers at the event, including former Governor Chief Achike Udenwa, ADC South-East Chairman Chief Born Unachukwu, and Imo State ADC Chairman Prof. James Okoroma, emphasized the importance of hard work, integrity, and commitment in advancing the party’s agenda.

They called on members to uphold the core values of ADC and remain focused on its vision of national rebirth and people-centered governance.

The new members, formally presented by Ihedioha, cited the party’s quality of leadership and internal democracy as the reason for their defection.

They further criticized the Labour Party and PDP for allegedly aligning with the ruling APC and failing to prioritize the welfare of Nigerians.

In a show of solidarity, ADC leaders and Local Government Area (LGA) chapters voluntarily contributed over N200 million to support party operations and activities across the state.

The meeting concluded with stakeholders expressing renewed hope, unity, and determination to advance ADC’s vision and achieve its strategic goals in Imo State and beyond.
