IGP Extends Grace Period for Tinted Glass Permit Enforcement to August 2025

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the extension of the grace period for the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit requirement until August 12, 2025.

The Nigeria Police Force announced the extension on Saturday through a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi. The move follows public concerns and feedback over the reactivation of the digital Tinted Glass Permit application process.

“In line with our commitment to delivering transparent, inclusive, and citizen-focused policing, the Force wishes to affirm that it has not ignored the voices of Nigerians. Rather, these voices have been instrumental in guiding ongoing reviews of the process,” the statement read.

The Police emphasized that the extension would allow time for further refinements to the application process, aiming to make it more user-friendly, secure, and accessible to all Nigerians.

The Force is working to simplify both physical and online application channels, including implementing enhanced verification mechanisms and streamlined procedures to minimize delays and prevent unnecessary inconveniences.

Citizens were reminded that the only authorized platform for applying or renewing a Tinted Glass Permit is www.possap.gov.ng.

Additionally, the Police urged the public to report any cases of extortion or hidden charges during the application or biometric capturing process via the dedicated hotline: 09169967000.

“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to public safety, digital innovation, and continuous improvement in service delivery, and appreciates the cooperation and patience of the Nigerian people as these reforms are carried out,” the statement concluded.
