Igbos Must Rise To Defend Themselves Against Killer Headsmen -Group Says

A socio-cultural group under the umbrella, Igbo National Union-Worldwide ,INU-W, has called on all the people of the area to rise against killings and destructions of properties allegedly being unleashed by terrorists parading as herdsmen.

The group hinted that since 2015, alleged terrorists, disguising themselves as herdsmen, had taken a toll in destroying farmlands, chasing away farmers, and killing them without any check or defense by security forces.

The National President of the group, Ngozi Ogbomor, and the Admin secretary, Mazi Austin-Mary Ndukwu, made the disclosure during a meeting held in Enugu State.

The group regretted that the flaming insecurity was a serious threat to the existence and survival of the Igbo race, calling on the Igbo to rise strongly against the carnage, which it termed as a dubiously calculated destructive agenda geared to exterminate the Igbo race.
The INU-W said that the group, having critically analyzed the situation with what he described as perceived

heightened tensions across Igbo land, maintained that self-defense was one of the natural and inalienable rights of every human being as enshrined in the Universal Bill of Rights, Bye-laws and Constitutions of every Organization, Community and Nations, including Nigeria.

“It is on this premise that Ndigbo have every right to defend and protect themselves and their land in the face of unprovoked attacks by strange elements. And we must do so with no further delay.
“INU-W believes that Ndigbo are willing to defend themselves with everything at their disposal.

“To those attacking our people with such savagery and brutish force, let them be reminded that we can no longer fold our hands and watch them ravage our people and our land, as no single entity can lay claim to monopoly of violence,” Ogbomor said.

The group called for proactive security in every Igbo land with the setting up of vigilante outfits across the region, as well as conducting a proper census to ascertain identities of strange elements.
They added that for Ndigbo to effectively defend themselves, there must be routine surveillance withindestructionurhood to checkmate the incursions, destruction of human life and property.
